Color My Heart Dare #274

Color My Heart Color Dare #274

Welcome to my blog Paper Crafting With Rebecca

Today, I am doing my first ever Color My Heart Color Dare using

This means, according to the rules, I am to use all and only these colors in the creation of my project. (Black and White Daisy paper are allowed, too.) Being up to the challenge, I decided I wanted to make a birthday card that I could easily mail a long distance.

So I started by gathering these "recipe" supplies.

Card base and layer cardstock: White Daisy Cardstock
Stamps: Short & Sweet Sentiments and Through the Year Stamp of the Month S1711
Inks: Bashful Mini, Charcoal Mini, and Glacier Mini
Dies: Basic Banners Thin Cuts and Happy Birthday Thin Cuts
Embossing Folder: Rose Embossing Folder
Embellishments: Bashful Pearls and Shimmer Brush
Adhesives: 3-D Foam Tape and Tombow Permanent Adhesive

I started by trimming my base to be a standard A2 card size (4.25" x 11") and folded it in half. Then I applied the Glacier ink by blotting in a straight up and down motion. I didn't have to color the very center as it will be covered by the embossed piece of cardstock.

Next I trimmed a piece of my White Daisy cardstock to 4" x 5.25" and embossed it using my the rose embossing folder. I then used the Bashful ink, in a gentle up and down blotting motion, to highlight the rose embossing.

Using the leftover piece of White Daisy cardstock I taped down my dies (using Washi tape so as not to damage the cardstock) and die cut my banners and Happy Birthday dies.

I then dabbed the Glacier ink onto the larger banner die cut until I was pleased with the speckled result.

I then did the same with the smaller banner die cut, only in Bashful ink this time.

Next I wanted the "Happy Birthday" to stand out, so I speckle dabbed it with the Charcoal ink.

Using my selected stamps I stamped my message on the smaller pink banner with the charcoal ink.

While the message was drying, I used my shimmer pen to add some pizazz to my "Happy Birthday".

Then it was simply a matter of putting it all together. Because this is being mailed in a standard A2 envelope I didn't want it to be too bulky, so I attached the two banners together with adhesive, and then attached the banners to the embossed piece with foam tape. I attached the embossed piece to the card base with foam tape as well.

Lastly, I added a few bashful pearls to give this card a "little something extra".

Now I can finish out the inside with a personal birthday message to my friend and it is ready to mail!

Thank you for joining me today and please use my links above if you would like to order any of the items in today's "recipe".

Happy Paper Crafting!
Rebecca
