CTMH Technique Blog Hop - Blushing Backgrounds

Welcome to my blog Paper Crafting With Rebecca

If you just popped in from CatScrapbooking's blog then you are in the right place. A blog hop is a friendly circle of artists challenged to design a paper craft using a monthly designated theme or product. Once we create our paper craft using that particular theme/product we then blog post our resulting creations. The next step is to visit each other's blogs so we can see what other’s have designed and created using that same theme/product. Even if you aren't entering a creation in this month's blog hop you are very welcome to join into the "hopping" and be sure to leave comments!

This month we are featuring, as our product, the In the Background stamp set and/or the Wild Backgrounds stamp set. I chose to use the In the Background stamp set to make an encouragement card. I love doing background stamping because it offers so much variety to my projects. Using background stamps is, basically, creating your own custom decorative paper!

Here is my entry for this month:

At this point, you can either continue the blog hop by going straight over to Sarah's blog or you can first see how I made this card by reading below.

😀  😀  😀  😀  😀  😀  😀  😀  😀  😀  😀  😀  😀  😀  😀  😀  😀  😀  😀  😀

To make this card I first gathered the following supplies for my "recipe":

Card base: One sheet of White Daisy Cardstock cut 4.25" x 11".
Card layers: Scrap pieces of the White Daisy Cardstock and Black Cardstock.
Stamps: In the Background and Bloom & Grow
Dies: Falling for You
Inks: White Daisy, Ruby, VersaMark and Black Memento
Adhesives: Tombow Permanent Adhesive and Thin 3-D Foam Tape
Extras: Ranger White Super Fine Embossing Powder

To start with I cut
out a rectangle 4" x 5.25" from the black cardstock. Then I chose three different flower dies and cut them out of my black rectangle.

After cutting out the card base from the White Daisy cardstock, I used the three flower dies to cut out three white flowers from saved scraps. (I don't ever throw away cardstock scraps until they are absolutely too small or inked up to use on anything else.)

Next I stamped/embossed the sentiment (with the VersaMark and the white embossing powder) and then I stamped little white flowers (using the White Daisy ink) onto my black cardstock.

Using my dotted background stamp, I then stamped the card base black around the edges and red in the middle.

Next I chose to stamp, using the rose-patterned background stamp, two flowers black and one red.

All that is left is to build the card. The two black-stamped flowers are inset into the black negative, however, I added dimension by raising the red-stamped center flower with foam tape.

All that is left to do is to finish out the inside with a personalized message and this card is ready to mail! Thank you for joining me in this blog hop adventure. If you have any questions or comments please leave them below.

Happy Paper Crafting!
Rebecca
