CTMH Technique Blog Hop - In Love with Vellum

Welcome to my blog, Paper Crafting With Rebecca! In order to maintain this blog, this page contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking my links.

If you just popped in from Sarah Devendorf's blog then you are in the right place. A blog hop is a friendly circle of artists challenged to design a paper craft using a monthly designated theme or product. Once we create our paper craft using that particular theme/product we then blog post our resulting creations. The next step is to visit each other's blogs so we can see what other’s have designed and created using that same theme/product. Even if you aren't entering a creation in this month's blog hop you are very welcome to join into the "hopping" and be sure to leave comments!

This month we are featuring vellum! I love using vellum in my paper crafting because it can be used to add elegance and/or texture to a project. As you are seeing in this blog hop, the uses of vellum are many!

Here is my entry for this month:

At this point, you can either continue the blog hop by going straight over to Catherine Nowak's blog or you can first see how I made this card by reading below.

πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

As with all cards I make, I first gather my supplies needed for my "recipe":

Card base: One sheet of White Daisy Cardstock cut to 4.25" x 11" and some scraps of White Daisy to stamp my animals on.
Card layers: Raspberry Cardstock cut to 4.25" x 5.5". (Note: I used my Cricut Explore Air Machine to cut out the hearts.) Vellum Paper and some scraps of Bashful Cardstock.
Stamps: Operation Smile: Punny Pals, In the Background, and Stronger Together Sentiments.
Die Cuts: Thin Cuts - Punny Pals
Inks: Ruby, Black Memento and VersaMark.
Adhesives: Tombow Permanent Adhesive and 3-D Foam Tape.
Extras: Small Round Waterbrush, Watercolor Pencils (but if you don't have watercolor pencils you can just as easily use Watercolor Paints), Ranger White Super Fine Embossing Powder, a 2" x 2" My Acrylix Block, Craft Heater and my EK Tools Powder Tool.

Once all the supplies are gathered it is time to create! I started by cutting out four small rectangles of vellum (approximately 2.5" x 2" each). Then I stamped them each with the background stamps using my VersaMark ink and white heat embossed them.

The next step is choosing a sentiment that is fairly small so it will fit within that vellum rectangle. I chose "You Are Loved" and used my Ruby ink to stamp it onto my cardstock.

Next I used my black Memento ink to stamp three animals onto some scrap white cardstock. I wanted to be sure to use ink that would not run when wet, so that is why I chose to use Memento.

Next I watercolored my little animals. I think this is one of the funnest parts!

Next step is to cut the animals out. I used the coordinating dies, but if you don't have the dies you could "fussy cut" them out.

Now comes the "putting them all together" stage. To me this is also a lot of fun because it pulls the idea in my head all together into an actual card. I cut little squares of foam to attach the Bashful Cardstock to the vellum in order to give it a bit more dimension.

Note that I put the adhesive behind the solid paper on the back of the vellum so that the adhesive wouldn't show through the vellum from the front. This also gives the illusion of the vellum "floating" on the front of the card which is a fun touch.

Now I just need to add the perfect sentiment to the inside of the card and it is ready to mail!

Thank you for joining in on this month's blog hop adventure! If you have any questions or comments, please do send them to me below.

Happy Paper Crafting!
