Card: You Make My Heart Happy

Welcome to my blog Paper Crafting With Rebecca!

Winter is hanging on this year and keeping me in the house! I don't mind, as I seem to have lots to keep me busy inside, but I decided it was time to make something bright and cheery to balance out the grey skies outside. You could use any bright papers to contrast with the white of this card, and you could use different embossing folders... but here is what I used:

Stamp: Happy Heart
Embossing Folders: Happy Thought Z3249 from CTMH and Cricut Moroccan Screen.
Cardstock: White Daisy Cardstock, Ruby Cardstock cut to 4.25" x 11", Lemon Cardstock cut to 4" x 5.25" and a decorative paper out of my stash cut to 3.75" x 2.5". (Note: I originally planned on using a piece of Pixie Cardstock, but ended up cutting another piece out of the Lemon Cardstock for the final version of the design.)
Ink: Ruby
Extras: Clear Super Fine Embossing Powder, Basic Banners Dies, Angel Crafts 1/4" by 55 YARDS Double-Sided TAPE Adhesive , EK Tools 54-04002 Powder Tool, foam tape, Cricut Glitter Tape and my Craft Heater. I also ended up using a piece of yellow craft foam from my stash to add some dimension (see below), but this is optional.

First I stamped and heat embossed my sentiment on a piece of the white cardstock. I stamped in ruby red and used clear embossing powder to give it some shine. Then, using the two largest dies from the Basic Banners set I cut out the sentiment and a background piece for the sentiment. I originally cut the background piece in pink... thinking it would bring out the pink in my patterned paper, but decided I liked the yellow better... so I cut out another one in yellow and saved the pink banner for another project.

Next I cut the white cardstock to 3.25" x 5" then I used my Cricut Cuttlebug to emboss it in the Happy Thoughts folder. I used the Cricut Moroccan Screen folder to emboss the piece of decorative paper.

Next I added a stripe of red glitter tape from Cricut to the embossed decorative paper. I like the texture and sparkle this tape adds to the card.

As mentioned above, I cut a yellow banner and decided to save the pink one for another project.

Score the red cardstock at 5.5".

Attach the sentiment banner to the larger colored banner. I used Tombow Permanent Adhesive on mine, but you can use whatever you have in your stash.

Next I cut a piece of yellow craft foam to slightly smaller than my white embossed cardstock, and attached this between the yellow and white cardstock layers. This adds dimension and heft to the card. I used the Angel Crafts double sided adhesive mentioned above in the supply list for this step.

Bringing all the card components together is always so satisfying and fun for me. I really like how cheery this simple card turned out. It may be grey and chilly outside but it is bright and warm inside my craft room today!
