Color Dare - #320

Welcome to my blog, Paper Crafting With Rebecca!

I am participating in another Color Dare this week. The challenge this week was to "use Kraft, New England Ivy, Candy Apple and Gold Optional" colors. Those colors simply scream "Christmas" to me, so I met the challenge by making a Christmas card.

Let's start with gathering some supplies! I pulled the appropriate colored cardstock, inks, a collection of CTMH Christmas themed stamps, and some Gold Tinsel heat embossing powder. You could probably use any variety of Christmas themed stamps, but I chose stamps from three different CTMH sets for this card.

I tend to think "country style" when working with Kraft paper so I settled into my "homemade country Christmas vibe", turned up the Christmas music, and started cutting and stamping. I started with cutting a piece of Candy Apple to 4.25" x 11" to fold and use as the card base. Then I cut a piece of Kraft cardstock to 4" x 5.25" and ran the paper through my Cricut Cuttlebug using my CTMH Stripe Embossing Folder.

Next I took a strip of the New England Ivy cardstock and edged it with VersaMark so that I could heat emboss some of the Gold Tinsel embossing powder onto it. I also stamped some critters and a tree with VersaMark and used the same Gold Tinsel embossing powder on them, too. Lastly, I cut two more pieces (one in the Candy Apple and the other in Kraft) for the centerpiece of the card.

Now it is simply a matter of combining all the parts. I used foam tape on some of the elements to add a bit of dimension. I also used a paintbrush to fill in the ornaments with a dab of Candy Apple to bring some red into the center of the card. Sadly, my camera doesn't pick up the red of the ornaments very well.

For the sentiment on the inside of the card I stamped a tree onto the Kraft cardstock using the New England Ivy ink. Because I wanted to use a tree from my 2017 stamp stash I masked the "2017" found at the bottom of the stamp with a piece of Post-it note prior to applying the ink. Then I used a paintbrush to put the ink selectively onto the stamp under the masking prior to stamping.

Lastly, I stamped a Kraft envelope using the New England Ivy in order to tie the card and envelope together. What a cute little bear!

There you have my humble entry for this Color Dare. I hope you enjoyed seeing how I made this card. If you have any questions on dimensions, stamps used, techniques, etc. then please be sure to ask me in the comment section below. I always love hearing from you.

Happy Paper Crafting,
Rebecca
