Color Dare #325 - Love

Welcome to my blog, Paper Crafting With Rebecca!

It is time for another Color Dare! The challenge this time is to choose at least three colors from the grid (below). I decided to work with Peacock, Eggplant, Glacier, Heather, and Silver. So lets get started!

Let's start off with gathering some supplies. For my entry I used a sheet of CTMH Peacock cardstock, some silver glitter paper, and some CTMH White Daisy cardstock. I also pulled out my CTMH Eggplant, Peacock, Glacier, and Heather mini-ink pads. Lastly, I decided to use an older CTMH stamp set (Chelsea Gardens - Cardmaking Sentiments C1709) for this card, but you could use any stamp set you have in your stash to make a similar card.

I started the card by making the card base by cutting the 12" x 12" piece of Peacock cardstock in half and then folding the 12" x 6" piece in half. This gives me a card base of 6" x 6". Next I cut a 5.75" square from the silver glitter cardstock. Using a die and my Cricut Cuttlebug I turned the silver square into a frame. I find this helps to make the card a bit lighter for mailing when making a larger card and it also saves on the pricey glitter paper (as I now have a square piece I can use an another project down the road).

Next I took a piece of the white cardstock and started making a background using my various ink pads and stamps. Although I enjoy buying decorative papers, it is fun to make my own using the exact colors I require for the project.

Once I had completed my sheet of hand-stamped background cardstock I chose some square dies, circle dies, a "love" die, and then used my Cricut Cuttlebug to get everything cut and ready. I made sure to cut three of the "love" layer so that I could glue them all together to end up with a more robust embellishment.

Then came the adhesive step. First I adhered the silver glitter frame to the card base. Once that was attached I was able to insert and adhere the hand-stamped background piece to the card base. I used a flat adhesive for these two pieces.

Using a liquid adhesive I attached the two circle pieces together and then carefully glued the "love" embellishment to the circles. I let those dry well before I attached the circle to the top of the card using a foam tape to add dimension.

For the inside of the card I stamped my sentiment using some VersaMark ink and then heat embossed with Silver Tinsel embossing powder. I then stamped a few random images using the same stamps and colors I used on the front of the card (trying to remember to leave myself a bit of room for a handwritten note and signature).

After finishing the inside of the card I added some silver sequins to the front of the card for some added sparkle. That is all there is to it!

Now I have a completed card (having met the requirements of the Color Dare) and it is ready to send to a friend to let them know I am thinking about them. What do you think about this card? Please let me know in the comments below. I love reading your thoughts, suggestions, and feedback.

Lastly, I simply have to share a picture of my sweet granddaughter my hubby took on Saturday morning. She was giving me a hug before breakfast and I love how her sweetness shines through. This precious toddler is such a joy to us!

Happy Paper Crafting,
Rebecca

    1. Thanks! I love Chelsea Gardens, too. I believe that once you invest in a stamp set it should be used again over time and not just stuck in a drawer and forgotten about. I love pulling stamps out of my stash for current projects.

  3. Hi Rebecca, love your card. Answering your question on my blog, the strips on the card are like thin strips of washi tape. They came as a packet of stickers but are more like washi.
