Card: Spring Thinking of You

Welcome to my blog, Paper Crafting With Rebecca!

I'm back! Did you miss me? I've been away from my craft room because I went to Texas to visit my parents. It is a three day experience getting there and a three day trip getting home. I left on the Amtrak on a Wednesday and arrived to their house on Friday. I prefer taking the train over flying, but it does take longer to get there and back again. However, the middle part (the visit) makes it all worth it! Not only did I have a lovely visit with my parents, but my mother is an amazing cook... there was so much good food! I wish you could all taste her gooseberry pie and her lemon meringue pie (and so much more)! Yum!

As soon as I got home we celebrated Easter, then my hubby had his cataract removal surgery. Everything is going well with the recovery, and now (after yesterday's eye doctor visit) I am only having to put eyedrops in his eyes three times per day, and next week we can drop it down to two applications per day, then we will be done. He is thrilled with the improved vision and I am happy to see him happy!

I've actually been doing a lot in my craft room since returning home, but not things I generally blog... because when I make somebody a gift I don't want to post it online in case they see it before I have a chance to give it to them. However, I did want to share this card with you. It was so fun and easy to make and I think it looks really delicate and sweet.

First, the "recipe":
Stamps: Chelsea Gardens
Cardstock: White Daisy Cardstock and some light blue cardstock from my scrap stash.
Inks: VersaMark
Embellishments: Washi tape, leftover flowers, and Ranger Silver Super Fine Embossing Powder.
Adhesives: Thin 3-D Foam Tape, Art Glitter Adhesive Glue in a microtip applicator bottle and Angel Crafts Double-sided tape.

I cut the blue cardstock to 11"x 4.25". The white cardstock piece is 5.25" x 4" and I saved a scrap strip of the white for the sentiment stamp. Next I applied the Washi Tape to the white piece of cardstock.

Next step was to glue the flowers together to give them some added dimension. I think I bought these flowers at my local craft store out of the sale bin. Once I bring them home I put them in a "tackle box" for storage so I no longer have the packaging... which is great as a space saving idea, but not so great when I can't remember for sure where I bought them!

Now I worked on getting my sentiment ready for the front of the card. Be sure to use an antistatic powder before stamping so you don't end up with stray silver embossing powder where you don't want it.

Before heat application - dull and powdery

After heat application - shiny silver

Next it was time to simply bring all the components together. I used foam tape on the sentiment in order to balance out the dimension of the flowers.

Last step included adding some Washi Tape to the envelope to coordinate with the card. There you have it, a sweet card to add a personalized note to so your friend knows you are thinking of them.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. If you have any questions or comments please do include them below.

Happy Paper Crafting,

  1. This is such a cute card! The heat application makes a huge difference. I love how the flowers and washi tape coordinate!
