Stash Scraps!

I have so many pretty Close To My Heart (CTMH) patterned paper scraps! When I finish a scrapbook page or a card I usually have some scraps left and find that I add them back into my stash because they are simply too pretty to throw away. If you are a paper crafter then I know you understand what I am talking about.

For today's card I decided to limit myself to only using scraps from my stash (except for the card base which is a larger piece of White Daisy cardstock). The patterned paper I ended up pulling out to use today is all CTMH paper, but some of it is discontinued. You will probably want to use whatever scraps you already have on hand. I got the inspiration for this card from Jacquie Paech at Sweet Paper Passion, but I changed it up a bit.

To start I pulled some paper from my stash, a Sapphire ink pad, some clear embossing powder, an acrylic block and my CTMH Documented Cardmaking Stamp + Thin Cuts (Z4172).

Then I got busy trimming. First I made my card base by cutting the White Daisy cardstock into a piece 4.25" x 11" and folding it in half. Then, using my Cricut Cuttlebug and a die I cut a second piece of the White Daisy into a rectangle 2.75" x 4". If you don't already have a set of rectangle dies then let me suggest you check out the CTMH Thin Cuts - Stitched Rectangle Frames (Z4260). They are versatile and a something you are likely to use again and again.

Once I was done with the white pieces of cardstock I started on the patterned paper pieces. I cut one to be 4" x 5.25" (the bottom teacup printed piece), one that is 2.25" x 3.75" (the light pink polkadot piece I stamped/clear heat embossed the sentiment on and then notched), and lastly I stamped and die cut some of the darker pink paper to make the floral strip and a flower. Now I have all my pieces!

Next it was a matter of adhering all the pieces together. I adhered the teacup piece directly to the base card with Glue Dots. I added the next layer (the white rectangle) using foam tape to add some dimension. The rest of the pieces are then layered on top of the rectangle using the Glue Dots. Lastly, for a bit of "bling" I pulled out and added some silver sequins.

Using the same Documented Cardmaking Stamp + Thin Cuts stamp set and the Sapphire ink I also added some flowers and a sentiment to the inside of the card. While I had the flower stamps on my block I made sure to remember to add a few to the envelope, too.

There is today's completed card utilizing pretty patterned paper scraps and made with lots of love!
