Color Dare #375 - Blue Monochromatic

Welcome to my blog, Paper Crafting With Rebecca!

Another year is upon us and I don't know where 2019 went! What a busy year full of so many emotions. I am hopeful that 2020 will bring us all a calmer, more tolerant and peaceful year worldwide.

This Color Dare is all about "blue". Today, here in Staunton, it is snowing and gray outside, so working with a cheery blue is a welcome diversion. If you don't know what a "Color Dare" is, or if you would like to join in, then please click this link → Color My Heart Color Dare Home Page for more information.

I've decided to enter a scrapbook page into this particular Color Dare. I delight in making layouts for the many pictures I take so creating a blue layout on such a snowy day seems like the perfect plan!

As it turned out, this is a picture our children took and sent us of our little granddaughter's first experience at a circus. This picture was taken in a very blueish light. The picture is adorable because you can see the complete joy on our sweet granddaughter's face. Her rainbow face-painting consisted of some glow-in-the-dark paints... so between the blue lighting and the glowing paint this picture is interesting, full of joy, and simply must be scrapbooked!

I then decided this picture would be perfect for a Monochromatic Blues challenge! First I gathered my supplies... White Daisy Cardstock as the base and an assortment of blues (Carolina Cardstock, Bluebird Cardstock, and Sapphire Cardstock). I also pulled some blue and white striped paper from the Every Little Thing Paper Packet.

Next I cut out some circus shapes using my Cricut Explore Air. All the circus shapes I chose are available in Cricut Access.

Once I had all my pieces pulled together it was simply a matter of arranging and adhering the various parts. I didn't want to make the page too busy, because I want the focus to be on our little one's bright smile, but I did add a bit of Clear Shimmer Brush to the stars and title for a little extra sparkle. (It is a bit difficult to see in the picture... but the shimmer really adds a nice touch in person!)

So that is my entry for this Monochromatic Blue Color Dare! Thank you for taking time to read my blog. If you have any questions regarding my technique or supplies (or you just want to say something) please leave your comment for me below. I always love reading what you have to say.

Happy Paper Crafting
