Valentine's Day 2020 is just around the corner, so I decided it was time to play with hearts and flowers and see what I could do to for this celebratory day of love. I started by pulling out a variety of patterned paper and a few dies. Here are a couple of cards I came up with and I hope they inspire you to get ready for Valentine's Day!

To start with, I love seeing pink and black together... such a fun combination! I cut the "love" out of black glitter paper using a die (the picture doesn't show up the glitter too much but in person it is has lots of sparkle.) For a little extra bling I used Nuvo Crystal Drops to draw the eye from the top left corner to the bottom right corner. The birds are also cut out using a die and then I used my shimmer pen to add an unobtrusive sparkle to them, too. The "Happy Valentine's Day" stamp inside the card is heat embossed using black embossing powder.

I enjoyed designing and creating that card layout so much I decided to do it again! This time I used different colors and paper, added a ribbon bow, but once again used some Nuvo Crystal Drops for extra bling. The inside sentiment is heat embossed with navy blue embossing powder. This card, although basically the same layout, has a different vibe than the first one... a bit more playful!

Being on a roll with this particular layout I couldn't resist playing with the basic design and creating a third card... but this time I changed up the papers, and put the heart off-center so I could add a square of "LOVE" with foam tape. I really like how this one turned out, too!

Then I thought... "what about using this layout to make a birthday card?"... so that came next. I used the same basic layout, some of the same patterned papers, an embossing folder, my Nuvo Crystal Drops and some Nuvo Glitter Drops to create a sweet and feminine birthday card.

Okay... I had enough of that layout so I decided to play with something else. I grabbed my Multi Circle Windows Thin Cuts die and made a clean and simple card using white cardstock with rhinestone hearts as the focus. I also cut, stamped and silver heat embossed the front sentiment. Once again, I can't get the sparkle to show up in the picture, but oh how those hearts sparkles in person!

Lastly, while going through my patterned paper, I came across some paper I have hoarded in my stash that I decided I would go ahead and share. I fussy cut the flowers, layered the paper, and created this cheerful Valentine's Day card. I added some random sparkle to some of the hearts and am rather pleased with this "Happy 💗 Day" card design.

It is my hope that sharing these few cards with you will inspire you as Valentine's Day approaches. If you have any questions about technique or supplies, please do let me know in the comment section.
