"No Spend 2022" Mid-Year Update

Welcome to Paper Crafting With Rebecca! I am so happy you stopped into my little blog. I hope you find the information here fun, informative, and inspirational. I am not selling anything. I am not sponsored by (nor an affiliate of) any of the products used or companies mentioned in my blog or videos. I simply create this blog (and videos) because I love meeting new people and connecting with others in the paper crafting community.

As many of you know, I am doing a crafting supply "No Spend 2022". I teamed up with three other YouTube crafty creators for moral support and we have decided to do an update video to share how it is going.

As I pointed out in the video, I’m not going to say 2022 has all been easy and smooth so far. I love to watch and shop Crafter’s Companion and HSN Craft Events, and there have been some real moments of temptation. I don’t want to miss watching the event (even though I’m not buying anything) because I love seeing the new releases, gleaning card design ideas, and keeping up with new products and tools… but WOW… there have been moments when I really questioned my decision to not buy crafting supplies this year.

Other moments of temptation have included emails telling of flash sales, or clearance events… those are difficult. But so far this year I have persevered and not spent any money on fun paper crafting supplies.

On the flip side, not buying paper crafting supplies has helped me to rediscover goodies I already own and hadn’t been using. I’m embarrassed to say that I still have paper pads I’ve not opened yet. Items I bought on sale last year for that “in the future project” and am now I am rediscovering them in my stash.

In a lot of ways, it has been liberating for me, too. My inner adult doesn’t have to continually police my crafty inner child. Before I would have these inner dialogues where my crafty self would say “I want this”, but my logical inner adult would say, “Should I spend money on it? Do I need it?” But being in a no spend year I don’t worry about that… it is simply “you aren’t buying craft supplies… period”.

I am blessed to still have a craft studio full of goodies to play with for the rest of the year, so I think I’m going to be able to keep going with this no spend year. I’ll let you know at the end of December how that goes!

Again, thanks for stopping in... be sure to leave me any comments or questions you may have about paper crafting or doing a no-spend year!

Happy Paper Crafting,

Rebecca
